''Staphylococcus arlettae'' is a Gram positive, coagulase-negative member of the bacterial genus ''Staphylococcus'' consisting of clustered cocci. It has been isolated from the skin of mammals and birds and is novobiocin resistant.〔Schleifer, K. H., R. Kilpper-Balz, and L. A. Devriese. 1984. Staphylococcus arlettae sp. nov., S. equorum sp. nov. and S. kloosii sp. nov.: three new coagulase-negative, novobiocin-resistant species from animals. Syst. Appl. Microbiol. 5:501–509.〕 A strain of this species isolated from effluent from a textile factory was found to be able to degrade azo dyes. ==References==
